TAUGHER (Shdwplay, Sci+Tec)
SHDWPLAY is the raw and unified alter ego of Shoddy Lynn and Skyler Taugher. Since 2009, the two have forged and refined a sound that chugs in the depths of the underground while simultaneously flourishing with its vibe in the disco. Filthy sine signals mixed with crisp-as soundscapes and percussion fuel the fusion that is known throughout all SHDWPLAY productions, with jabs of dark and tripped out stutter vocals rounding out the experience. The dirty underground sound these two deliver delves down deep, while always staying afloat, keeping it just lighter than the darkest abyss.
The two met at a party in Los Angeles, exchanging tunes they each had been working on. At first, both Doubted the other would truly understand the level of obsession involved in producing the pure and crisp electronic sound they both loved to pump. But to their surprise, Skyler and Shoddy were more similar than expected, and began to learn immensely from each other. This forged a bond that immediately buried them deep in the studio for the next two years. It is not until now that they are coming out of their "dungeon/spaceship" to introduce the world to the SHDWPLAY experience.
Since the beginning, Skyler and Shoddy have kept their jamming cult following to the underground with record releases on some notable Los Angeles, San Francisco and Miami imprints. This year though, the two are flipping a page and pushing out onto the world platform. Too young to have ever experienced records in their finest form, they are a part of a cohort of artists that consider themselves "technology purists," with machines and devices controlling the atmosphere. While they love to write music and DJ, they focus on their ever-evloving technologic LIVE set, which is constantly changing with every production. These sets are a dance floor vortex of released and unreleased SHDWPLAY originals, accompanied by Shoddy on the mic, hypnotizing the dance floor with her raspy vox.
So keep your eyes wide shut and your ear lobes lubed because the future will be lined with the duo dropping new records and remixes while touring both their DJ sets and LIVE act. There is only one way to describe whats to come of SHDWPLAY...

U-TERN
Garnering universal respect from peers is not common for DJs-come-producers. U-Tern somehow managed it, and a reputation is steadily building for this humble Vancouverite. Spreading his obvious infatuation for all things music through his blog and weekly radio show, U-Tern is one of those individuals whose passion and drive are enviable. All that is secondary though: immaculate, charming disco-funk tracks are the standout here. U-Tern’s use of real instruments and his exceptional production chops translate into truly authentic pieces of music striking that balance between nostalgia and the 21st century.
